  • Val aka “Murisopsis”…a Bundle of Joy

Well, 55 years ago I was at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Flint, MI giving birth to a tiny little red haired baby. My husband and I named her Valerie Ann….liking the fact that her initials could be the same as her nickname. I’d had a lovely second grade student with that name and loved both her and her name.

Valerie wasn’t at all wrinkled like all the other newborns….but really soft and smooth looking with a peaches and cream complexion and a little fringe of fine red gold hair! So sweet! The night before, we had gone out to dinner at Uncle Bob’s Delicatessen, an old fashioned diner in Flint, Michigan. It had some tables but also had the traditional counter and swivel stools…but best of all, it served absolutely wonderful Kosher food. I wonder if it is still in business? Anyway, I think that corned beef dinner and cheesecake desert at the diner is what made me go into labor later that night!!! There were some pains during the 9 or so hours of labor; however, Val has not given me any pains at all since that day! Happy Birthday to my talented and lovely daughter Valerie!

  • Awww. Mother mine, you got me all choked up – at least there isn’t anyone at work to see me sniffing! I’m going to meet Sparky for dinner out. Thanks for the shout out!

  • Awww, how sweet. I’m glad Val pointed me over here to read this and see her adorable pics! My daughter was born with hair just like you describe, too.

  • Nice tribute to the birthday girl.

  • I wish you both joyful days before you, and I can reassure you that Valerie, after 55 years loves you as deeply as the day she was born. Sadly, both Jewish delis near where we lived in Blue Ash, Ohio left us wanting for Jewish mother home cooking, and we are not even Jewish, but with Hebrew University in Cincinnati, the culture is a great part of our community and friends while there.  I have a beautiful Mary who will never break my heart, and children can, Mothers, but out of the five, I would lay down my life.  I have some limits, and they know where they fall. One crossed over with a sword, but you give what you personally can; You are not sabotaged in to wrongs to make them feel right, but you will love them even if it means a chapter is closed. That is what makes mortality possible; But relieve your days of becoming mothers; For those will carry you the long way home.

  • happy birthday to your daughter. :)

  • That’s wonderful! While we’ve yet to meet in person, she seems like a wonderful person (as do you!) and is such a valuable part of the Xanga community.

  • @saintvi -  Thanks…she certainly cherishes your friendship … and all of her Xanga friends as well. she really is a very wonderful daughter and just a wonderful person, and I’m so proud of her!

  • @ZSA_MD -  Thanks so much, Zakiah. We both are grateful for your friendship and kindness. I read the nice tribute to you and your book. It was beautiful…just like you!

  • @SandraErickson - @armnatmom - @turningreen - @seedsower - @promisesunshine - @PinkHoneysuckle - @Texasjillcarmel - @Jaynebug -  Thanks to all of you for your kind words and appreciating my eldest daughter like I do too! You are ALL very dear to her and your friendship means a lot to her….and me too.

  • @tinawicked - @christao408 - @peterjamesmanos -  Thanks to all of you for visiting this and reading about one of my favorite people in the whole world (her two sisters rank right up there with her also) and for your kind words. You all are an inspiration to her and keep her writing steadily too. It’s nice to have a fan club with nice people like all of you. I read your entries on my Xanga digest but sometimes don’t leave messages. Am busy now trying to sell my condo, etc. etc. will try doing better when all is settled.

  • @mlbncsga -  Thanks for the visit and kind words. I DO love that girl!!!

  • I love geneological studies also.  I was surprised when Marie Antoinette popped up as one of our line from my mother’s side as sharing the same genotype.  I need a Georgia expert around the Gainesville area.  We have a clear line on from 1820 there.  You are most gracious; and I would say your daughter is rather a lucky girl too.
